Maryellen earned her bachelors degree in art history at UCLA, where she later also obtained certification as a paralegal and in law firm administration. She worked as a paralegal and administrator in Los Angeles before moving to the San Luis Obispo area where she worked as a paralegal in the district attorney’s office and, for sixteen years, as a paralegal and firm administrator at Andre, Morris and Buttery. Since retiring, Maryellen has been a consultant with both for- and non-profit entities particularly in the areas of executive searches, human resources and team building. Her non-profit clients include: Foundation for the Performing Arts Center, Irvine Adult Day Health Services, and San Luis Obispo Little Theatre. She recently completed the Leadership Institute at the Center for Nonprofit Leadership. Maryellen has been on the boards of Juniors of the League for Crippled Children, Central Coast Natural History Association, and Foundation for San Luis Obispo Public Libraries. She served several years as President of PCPA Foundation. She served as interim Executive Director of the San Luis Obispo Symphony and, more recently, joined the board of directors of the Foundation for the Performing Arts Center.
